Flipboard for Android to break free from the Galaxy S III officially

Android Central

Love it or hate it, Flipboard coming to Android is big news. We first took a look at it back at Earls Court in London during the Samsung Galaxy S III launch event. Initially at least, Flipboard is exclusive to the Galaxy S III, but as is often the way this didn't last very long at all. Unofficial versions were 'ported' from the Galaxy S III and hosted on the interwebs for all the world to download and use at their leisure. Word from Flipboard now though, is that the application will soon be available on all Android devices.

The story goes that in concentrating on one device, with one screen size and resolution, Flipboard could ensure that their massively popular iOS offering wouldn't suck when it arrived on Android. That, and quite possibly the bazillion number of units Samsung were likely to -- and eventually will be -- shipping of the Galaxy S III. As far as a test bed goes, a device that ended up with 9 million pre-orders probably wasn't a bad choice. As it turns out, Flipboard is pretty close to having a beta version of the app ready for the rest of the Android world.

The developers are planning to release it to a small amount of users initially under a strict beta tag, to help test it out, submit bug reports, and generally make sure that the app is as polished as it needs to be. Makes sense, after all, Flipboard is all about the visual, and a janky experience would be the quickest way to put users off.

There is no mention of the magic date that Flipboard may start to make it into eager beta testers hands, but by all accounts it sounds like it's pretty close. Could it even appear before the Pebble Blue Galaxy S III perhaps?

Update: Well, that was quick! Seems like the beta is now live with reports of invites heading out to users who had signed up.

auto insurance hidden valley There are more cars and drivers hitting the road every year. With so many vehicles on the road, crashes will happen. The difference between a small aggravation and major obstacle can be automobile insurance. So how do you know what insurance you need and how much to buy? Auto insurance protects you by covering the cost of damage or injury you cause others while driving your car, damage to your car or injury to you or your passengers from a crash, plus specific other occurrences, such as theft. Every state and province requires car insurance by law. Without insurance, you risk having to pay the full price of any harm you cause others or of repairing or replacing your car if it is damaged or stolen.Liability pays for damages due to bodily injury and property damage to others for which you are responsible. Bodily injury damages include medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering. Property damage includes damaged property and loss of use of property. If you are sued, it also pays your defense and court costs. Higher recommended insurances are available that cover more than the lower, state-mandated insurance. Personal injury protection: This is required in some states and is optional in others. Sometimes referred to as no-fault coverage, this pays the medical treatment for you or your passengers regardless of who was at fault. It may also pay for lost earnings, replacement of services and funeral expenses. State law usually sets minimum amounts. Medical payments: This type of coverage is available in non-no-fault states and will pay no matter who is responsible for the accident. It pays for an insured person?s reasonable and necessary medical and funeral expenses for bodily injury from a crash. Collision: Pays for damage to your car caused by an accident. Comprehensive: This applies if your car is stolen or damaged by causes other than collision, including fire, wind, hail, flood or vandalism. Uninsured motorist: Pays for damages when an insured person is injured in a crash caused by another person who does not have liability insurance or by a person who cannot be identified (usually a hit-and-run driver). Under-insured motorist: Pays for damages when an insured person is injured in a crash caused by another person who does not have enough liability insurance to cover the full amount of the damages. Other coverage, such as emergency road service and car rental, is also available. insure your automobile

GE Citizenship ? GE WattWise Mobile App Helps Restaurants Cut ...

SOURCE: General Electric (GE)

DESCRIPTION:

Cutting costs and shrinking your carbon footprint can start with changing a few light bulbs. That?s the idea behind WattWise, a GE Capital mobile application designed to help franchise restaurant operators regulate and reduce their energy costs from lighting quickly and conveniently on their mobile devices.

Running a franchise restaurant can be energy-intensive. According to the 2011 Chain Restaurant Industry Review, restaurants spend up to five times more on utilities than other commercial businesses. Lighting accounts for 13% of a restaurant?s total energy usage. And many franchisees are small-to-medium sized businesses, without the resources to conduct full-scale energy audits of their own.

When it came time to test the WattWise application, GE Capital?s Access GE team reached out to Wendy?s franchise owner and long-time customer Junior Bridgeman to see if it could improve his margins and cut his energy usage.?? Access GE focuses on ways to shares tools, resources, insights, and learnings to help GE Capital customers tackle some of their most pressing business challenges. Engagements can vary from best practice sharing sessions and customized workshops to extended coaching sessions that may continue for several months.

GE Capital took a close look at Bridgeman?s lighting costs. Using the WattWise app, GE Capital conducted lighting audits at two of Bridgeman?s Wendy?s restaurants. WattWise recommended changes to the restaurants? existing lighting solutions, explained the potential energy savings, and outlined the total expected cost to implement these changes.

The WattWise tool helped Bridgeman to identify an average energy savings of more than $500 per location. Expanded to include all of Bridgeman?s Wendy?s locations, this could result in a cost savings of over $80,000 a year.

?A simple system like this for improving light bulbs can directly impact an operator?s bottom line over the long run,? says Chris Armbruster, vice president of franchise development for Yum! Brands subsidiary Taco Bell. ?WattWise is a great way to save money and be environmentally conscious at the same time.?

Through tools like WattWise, GE Capital is delivering on GE?s commitment to create value by enabling customers to cut costs and reduce their environmental impacts.?

Love and processes are simply not enough ? you must have a ...

I am writing this with the BBC?s coverage of the torch relay running in the background. I think even the most cynical of people have been amazed with the support and interest there has been for the torch relay during this first week. And that in parts of Britain, where, perhaps due to the distance from London, maybe the enthusiasm shown even for the Olympics has been a little subdued. So the latent interest in the Olympics and sport is there, but at the same time the Sport and Recreation Alliance report from 2011 states that only 49% of community sports are actually generating a surplus. So love certainly is not enough to keep community sport sustainable.

In Ireland the Irish Rugby Football Union has recently published the results from a major research and consultation process. One of the findings states that 72% of the Irish public believes that rugby union as a sport makes a significant contribution to Irish society. At the same time the Irish nation?s morale has rarely been lower and yet internationally Irish rugby is riding high with the 2012 Heineken Cup final being contested at a sell-out Twickenham. Also the number of children taking up the game is up (parents appreciating the values of the game). BUT, IRFU analysis of club accounts highlights that there has been a 40-50% decrease in club sponsorship as well a 30-40% reduction in bar revenue.

And I meet lots of great, passionate people involved with community sport who have never really thought about how they could make a much greater impact if they actually thought deeper about how to develop a strategy for developing sustainable income streams. So please do not leave the financial sustainability to the hard-pressed Treasurer and some fund-raiser, often operating in splendid isolation from the rest of the club.

For those of you working in public facilities and who no doubt are facing serious challenges having to demonstrate the long-term viability and benefits of your centre/facility now is certainly the time to give serious consideration as to how you can develop a strategy and action plan for innovative, enterprising and sustainable income generation.

What is your financial strategy? How do you fund your club and sport? Have you got a financial plan? Or do you have a ?we are sport, so all this business-jargon doesn?t really apply to us? approach? How you finance the activities of your club should be absolutely at the core of your club, your leadership and your thinking. It is absolutely no good to have an attitude where the coaches ?just want to do sport? and somebody else must make sure that the finances are in place to ensure that coaches? wishes are granted.

It?s very difficult to justify two swimmers occupying an Olympic pool or 3 to 4 runners being the only people benefiting from the floodlights at the athletics track and then expecting somebody else to be there to switch off the electricity and lock up after them. And, yes, both examples are from the real world.

Regardless of level, size and ambition as a sports provider you must have a clear picture of how you are going to fund your club and sport. Are you relying on philanthropic donors or are you constantly applying for ever-more rare grants? Or do you seek and win contracts with schools or health authorities to deliver anti-obesity and physical activity programmes?

You might even consider becoming more enterprising and constantly be looking at how to develop new services that consumers will want to pay for, because you are providing great experiences?

In an ideal world you may even be looking at the best ways to balance your objectives for your club with the different ways of financing them and your club as a whole. Different income types are sought and managed in different ways and involve developing specific relationships with whoever is providing the funds. Within the range of options there are enormous ranges and possibilities.

Sustainable income generation can involve all a number of streams, or just one or two options, all depending on your objectives, culture and skills.

The key is sustainable income. Let me repeat those words: sustainable income.

Apologies for being a bit exuberant here but I do experience so many, far too many, clubs who suffer from the Dash For Cash Syndrome, where they run like (often headless!) chicken trying to raise 12s 6d somehow to survive until their next financial crisis.

?Sustainable income? is not simply a question of getting better at fundraising or locating one ever-lasting source of income. Sustainable income is exploring income opportunities across a spectrum of funding streams; from charitable donations, through to grants, service level agreements and contracts, to social enterprise activity, trading goods and services. This not only spreads risk, but ensures community sports providers are best placed to take advantage of emerging trends and opportunities and are able to safeguard their financial future without sacrificing independence or mission.

Sustainable income is underpinned by thorough planning. Every organisation is unique, but there are ideas, information and sources of practical support for those wanting to broaden their income base and explore sustainable funding.

If you?re thinking about sustainable income you need to be asking:

  • How are we planning for the future?
  • Could we collaborate with other organisations?
  • Do we have any services that are strong enough to deliver as contracts?
  • Can we charge our service users for what we?re doing already?
  • Can we subsidise our core service by offering something different, perhaps to a different group of people who are more able to pay?
  • What are we good at, and how can we best use our expertise to develop our services?

The best ideas for sustainable funding aren?t the unusual ideas, but ones that use the skills and resources that you already have as an organisation.

At SMN?s conference Sustainable Community Sport ? New Challenges, New Opportunities to be held 26th June at Watford FC you can listen to some great people, just like yourself, who have managed to combine the love and passion with the ability to develop exciting ways of ensuring financial sustainability. New-paradigm globalisation and networked FDI: Evidence from Japan

International trade theory is going through another revolution ? the third in three decades. The first came in the 1980s ( ?new trade theory?) when Paul Krugman, Elhanan Helpman, Victor Norman, Tony Venables and Jim Brander opened the black box of the production possibility frontier. They allow for firms and increasing returns to scale; this massively extended the real-world relevance of trade theory.

The second revolution (?new new trade theory?) came when Marc Melitz (2003) opened the black box further by allowing for firm-level productivity differences. Antr?s (2003) contributed to this by opening up the black box of firm organisation. Again, these developments tremendously boosted the ability of theory to address important aspects of reality.
More recently, a new theoretical innovation (dare one call it new-trade cubed?) did it once again. The new perspective ? sometimes called new-paradigm globalisation ? opens up the black box of production function, allowing for potentially internationalised supply chains. While this perspective goes way back, a recent rash of theory and empirical work shows that this ?new-paradigm globalisation? has incredibly important implications for policy and empirics.1

A few years ago, one of us argued that the big difference between old and new paradigm globalisation was the driving force (Baldwin 2006). Old-paradigm globalisation focuses on lower trade costs; the new paradigm focuses on coordination costs ? the information and communication technology (ICT) revolution in particular. Lower coordination costs made it feasible to geographically unbundle production stages and wage differences made it profitable. This ?second unbundling? transformed international commerce as the sorts of flows that used to be contained inside factories now became international. Many US-based scholars have focused on wage implications most notably Grossman and Rossi-Hansberg (2008). But the second unbundling ? variously known as offshoring, vertical specialisation, fragmentation, etc. ? has many other implications for empirical work and policy making.

In a recent paper, we turn the new-paradigm focus to FDI theory (Baldwin and Okubo 2012). Canonical thinking about FDI distinguishes two main types: horizontal and vertical (Markusen 1984 and Helpman 1984).

  • Horizontal FDI in the former is said to be ?market seeking?;
  • Vertical FDI is ?efficiency seeking?.

Empirical tests typically search for FDI motives by considering whether FDI activity is greatest between large nations (market seeking), or nations with big endowment and/or factor prices differences (efficiency seeking) (Carr et al. 2001, Blonigen et al. 2003). The two have been synthesised and enriched to include export platform FDI (Markusen and Venables 2000, Yeaple 2003, Ekholm et al. 2007). Grossman, Helpman and Szeidle (2006) generalise these results by allowing a richer range of multinational activities that can be called complex FDI.

Our paper contributes to this by using firm-level data on the sales and sourcing patterns of Japanese affiliates in all industries in all nations to suggests that very little FDI falls neatly into any of the standard bins, i.e. horizontal, vertical or export platform. We find that most affiliates are buying some, but not all, of their intermediates from abroad and selling some, but not all of their output abroad. We refer to this FDI as ?networked FDI? since the evidence is that these affiliates are operating as nodes in regional production networks. Moreover, we show that this aspect of the data became much stronger from 1996 to 2005.

We suggest that a very natural way to test FDI theories is to use the sales and sourcing patterns of affiliates. We also argue that the location and nature of FDI activity depends upon third-country effects of two types ? basically the international equivalent of backward and forward linkages. The first, forward linkages, suggests that FDI production is favoured by locations near many large markets ? perhaps measured by some sort of market potential index for the host nation (Baltagi et al. 2005). The second, backward linkages, suggest that FDI production is favoured by proximity to masses of similar activity in both the host nation and nearby nations. This might be measured by some sort of host-nation-specific price index for intermediates and they have not, to our knowledge, been explored empirically or theoretically.

Taken together, the two third-nation effects suggest that the location and nature of FDI activity is influenced by something that might be called ?regional comparative advantage?. For example, even if Cambodia and Uganda had identical national policies, endowments, and market size, Cambodia?s proximity to massive manufacturing activity creates backward and forward linkages that make FDI more attractive in Cambodia than in Uganda. The policy implications of these observations are clear. Policies that worked in East Asia must be rethought before applying them to very different regions such as Latin America, Central Asia, and Africa.

New-paradigm globalisation suggests that we view FDI as part of the second unbundling. This, in turn, suggests a perspective that focuses on each affiliate?s sales and sourcing pattern (Figure 1). The existing classifications are corner solutions: Pure horizontal FDI is the northeast corner; pure vertical FDI is the eastern border; pure export platform FDI is the southwest corner.

Figure 1. The sales-sourcing box diagram

Using an aggregated version of Japan?s firm-level data, we plot the Japanese affiliates in the sales-sourcing box diagram (sub-sector averages). We do this for 1996 (Figure 2) and 2005 (Figure 3). Plainly, three categories can?t cover the full range of reality.

Figure 2. Sales and sourcing by sector, 1996

As production unbundling advanced, the sales-sourcing pattern of Japanese FDI changes dramatically, as the comparison between 1996 and 2005 shows. Although the sector classifications changed between the two years, the broad picture is clear ? most sectors saw a decrease in the local sourcing of intermediates.

Figure 3. Sales and sourcing Japanese affiliates, all host nations, 2005

In particular, Figure 3 shows the emergence of what we called ?networked FDI? ? i.e. FDI where the affiliates import substantial shares of their intermediates and export substantial shares of their output. In this sense, trade and investment became far more entwined between 1996 and 2005. Figure 4 ? taken from the recent METI White Paper (2012) ? shows the evolution over time for three important sectors.

Figure 4. Evolution of sales and sourcing in Asian affiliates

Of course, this is a very rough classification and many nuances are hidden by this presentation, but it does serve to illustrate the point ? first made by Hanson et al. (2001) ? that the standard horizontal or vertical thinking is inadequate for understanding the behaviour of FDI.

In our paper, we find large regional variations among the three major host regions ? Asia, North America and the EU. The North American sales-sourcing patterns are strikingly different in terms of the dominance of local sales.

The dominance on the theory side of North-American inspired modelling and on the empirical side by US multinationals data has resulted in a belief that FDI is mostly motivated by ?horizontal? or market-seeking goals. Our research suggests that this is almost exactly wrong in the Japanese data.

Our divergent conclusions stem from two key differences. First, we note that the standard view is based on a rather indirect empirical strategy when it comes to testing FDI theories. Most papers seek to determine whether FDI activity (typically affiliate sales) are stimulated by market-seeking motives (horizontal) or efficiency-seeking motives (vertical), or a combination of the two (complex FDI) using macro data (GDP, endowments, etc) not micro data. We suggest that a very literal reading of the theory points to a very different empirical levers for distinguishing horizontal and vertical FDI, namely the sales and sourcing patterns of affiliates. We argue that affiliates? purchases of non-local intermediate goods (despite positive trade costs) indicates that it is cheaper to undertake some but not all production stages in the host nation. Likewise, exports back to the home country despite trade costs suggest that separating manufacturing stages lowers the cost of production. Likewise, the share of affiliate sales to the local market are perhaps the most natural indicator of horizontal FDI, with pure horizontal FDI requiring 100% local sales.

Using these levers, we find three key findings.

  • FDI in almost all sectors and almost all nations involves some ?vertical-ness?, and some ?horizontal-ness?.
  • In many nations and many sectors, the Japanese affiliates have sales and sourcing patterns that suggest that individual affiliates are part of a production network.

This ?networked FDI? may be a very interesting phenomenon to study from a theory, empirical and policy point of view since it suggests that ?regional comparative advantage? (basically third-nation effects on the supply and demand sides) may be an important consideration in crafting and evaluating national FDI policies.

  • Our data systematically show affiliates in North American have quite different sales-sourcing patterns compared to those in Asia and Europe.

Specifically affiliates in North American have sales-sourcing patterns that are far more in line with horizontal FDI than those in Asia and Europe. This suggests that strong conclusions from US data may have to be tempered before they are applied to the rest of the world ? especially developing nations.

Oh, did we mention that the first 50 units will be released from Samsung's retail store in the new shopping mall at Westfield Stratford City, London? The Samsung Galaxy S III will be launched there on May 29th at 6pm. And if you're complaining that the store is in London and you don't have the wherewithal to get the ducats, you might as well stop the whining. The Olympics are in London this year so if you can't get there to go to Samsung's store, odds are you can't make it to the games either.

Samsung is even giving to sponsored athletes, a limited edition version of the Samsung Galaxy S III with Visa's payWave app pre-installed. This will help the athletes of the 2012 Olympics wave their phone to make payments for clothes, food and Taxi rides to and from the stadiums and arenas.

Spiritual Friendship ? Walks with Yogi

?What if the leading energy in our lives were to be our heart and our heart?s cry? What if living a ?spiritual life? was actually synonymous with living a ?heart-centered life?? These are some of the questions I have been asking myself?and the answers have pushed me more and more into prioritizing what I am calling ?spiritual friendship.? What is spiritual friendship to me? It is the genuine meeting of two people who are vulnerable and open and truth-telling and available for actual contact and communion at the feeling level.

What this means is that interpersonal challenges can?t be healed on the meditation cushion or in solitary retreat. Wounds from relationship require the context of relationship for healing. This seems pretty obvious, huh? But as someone who has been a meditator now for almost three decades, this was not something that was obvious to me in the early stages of my journey. Somehow I thought I was going to open completely to the universe and all of its mystery without ever needing to relate closely and vulnerably with others.

What I am actually finding is that connecting with other people in a heart-centered way is not just about healing. It is actually the most rewarding and fulfilling part of my life. Period. There is something about being fully received by another person and fully receiving another person, without the need for any part to be edited or left out, that feels to me like the giving and receiving of the greatest soul nourishment that there is.?

-?Tami Simon, Founder and Publisher of Sounds True

Post 87

What Tami Simon describes is the healing relationships I have experienced in spiritual communities like my sangha, in Alanon and CODA, recently? in a wonderful? ?meet up? group called ?egonots?.? I know from my friends in AA they have those spiritual relationships as well.? Unconditional love and focus on who you are other than this? false, grasping, frightened ?self?. ? The openess and vulnerablity is greater in those relationships than most marriages and all romances.? Yet?

I still hear young women worrying about not finding ?love.? I too remember pacing the earth on constant look-out for ?love? that would make life worth living.? Maybe young women now? no longer plan their entire future based on marriage and family, but the pressure is still there.? Witness the flourishing wedding planning businesses.? Much of this has to do with wanting to have children.? I remember being told by a friend that ?having children is what gives life meaning; it is the purpose of life.?? I did not have a child then and never ended up having children.? Is my life meaningless then?

?As soon as there is ?self?, there is selfishness. These two are very different, nonetheless, they are inseparable. The ?self arises, then selfishness comes?. Selfishness gives rise to love, greed, anger, hatred, fear, worry, frustration, envy, jealousy, possessiveness. All of these are aspects of selfishness. Love through fear and worry, are just different aspects of selfishness.?? ?Buddhadasa Bhikkhu, from Buddhism Now online magazine

What does the self need?? Everything. From whom?? Another self. ? And when that changes or lessens, as it always does, the self needs More. From another self, and yet another?.Or one other who must fulfill its demands.

What does your buddhanture need? To be love.

Enough said.

So, here I am going to offer an unpopular conclusion, a radical conclusion, one that I?m sure will raise many objections, but here it goes:? If we assume the self, the body and all the physical forms our mind creates constitute reality, then the purpose of life is to procreate an extension of yourself.? However, if the purpose of life is to awaken from the illusion of self and see the unity of all that is, then it is not necessary to marry and procreate at all.

So you might say, that the love between husband and wife and children is the deepest love a human being can achieve.? And that is why women, especially, long for that from young ages.? Even gay people long for the same.? And the divorce rate is 50%.? We can only imagine the percentage of marriages mired in the selfishness of ?self? but unable or unwilling to change or grow.

What if, as Tami Simon, says in her quote, that our societies had as a value to aim for love that is not aimed at the self? And I am not talking about the neurotic selflessness of all those who adopt the mother/wife as? martyr role. What if our dream was not of our wedding, our cake, our dress, our honeymoon, our children, our house, our cars?.?? The needs and desires and attachments of the self underlie the entire ?dream.?

I have watched the pain and loneliness of my single women friends as search and do not find love. We fear we won?t find?? romance, passion,? our soul mates (definition:? someone who is what I want him or her to be).? We eventaully lose romance, passion or we divorce our ?soul mates.?

?Love through fear and worry, are just different aspects of selfishness.?

Love based on craving and desperation is no love at all?it is need; the need of wounded, frightened children.? This is the longing for parents, not partners.? Yet it is celebrated as the key to happiness and fulfillment.? How can children not follow that dream?? Why do we burden them with is illusion for the rest of their lives?

So am I proposing a hermit?s life?? Am I suggesting we all sit on the mat and meditate all alone for the rest of our lives.? Punish our ?selves? and try to be rid of them so we are not selfish? No.

I am suggesting what Tami Simon talks about:? The source of true love is a unique type of friendship, not a romantic or sexual bonanza.? What is a spiritual friendship??? It is aptly described by a quote from a Facebook friend in India:? When two minds with same interests come together they develop understanding, when two hearts with same feelings come together they create love. And when both mind and heart with common understandings and feelings come together, they create a beautiful relationship?Friendship!?

In the spiritual friendship I believe I am experiencing, I am not craving another to approve of my ?self,?? to have the other do what my ?self? wants, to fill the needs my ?self? thinks must be filled.? In a spiritual friendship we love what is beyond the ?self? and what is common to everyone, buddhanature.? We strive to see buddhanature in each other and all others.? Our Minds open to the mystery of who we are beyond these two seemingly separate selves.? Far from fear, we are free to be apart, to aim for non-attachment that is grounded in universal love, agape. Only what does not change is true.? But hat does not change is what is allowed to change, is not threatened by change.? The solid ground, the secure source of our buddhanature.? Buddha friend, I see your nature, I salute your nature, I feel comforted and loved by that changeless nature.? Buddha friend you appear in this body, with this face and in all bodies, all faces.

No reason to seek another.? No reason to fear. ? But when your friend appears you will be looking into the mirror of your own complete, unchanging nature.? Ah, true self, your nature is to be love, not seek it.

Kanzi: ZTE's 3D UX for ICS handsets

Image

To skin or not to skin? That's hardly ever a question for Android OEMs. And, in the case of some Chinese manufacturers, that mark of software differentiation comes in the form of three dimensions. We've already seen Huawei trot out its (optional) 3D UX for the Ascend P line, and now it appears ZTE's ready to follow suit with a custom interface powered by Rightware. The Kanzi UI, as it's called, will come pre-loaded on all of the company's smartphones currently shipping with Ice Cream Sandwich, treating users to a 3D homescreen experience and giving developers a unified platform to port their designs. It's good news if you're a fan of that overlaid visual gimmickry, but we much prefer our Google desserts vanilla and without any toppings. Hit up the break to check out the official presser.

guillermo - Ergonomics and Human Factor Engineering ... - Health ...

From the foremost day of man?s birth he is fond of ease and satisfaction in every place in his daily life. In early days at the time science was not so advance as of today, the technology and user interface through it was difficult, which was slowly making more good with the advance researches on humans psychology and biology. Due to this intellect a new scientific branch called ?Ergonomics and Human Agent Engineering? is introduced which deals through practical implementation of theoretical based biological deportment of human. All these aspects of human life should be act as an input for the crafty of ergonomic products in order to enhance soundness safety, satisfaction and better performance of an employee at act or a person at home.

The word ?Ergonomic? is not an English people word it is the word of Greek language, at which place ergon(work) and nomos(law). By the combination of these two language the word become ergonomic and its means ?knowledge of work?.

Now a day ergonomics spread in all aspects of human life. Ergonomics and human agent engineering is the name of making sure that movables, machines and tools are excellently designed in like a way that they will not harm workers in any way. A fitly designed workplace can reduce workers material substance as well as mental stress by satisfying their individual aspirations and requirements. Therefore increases productivity of the all system that is why ergonomic is known as ?a whole oriented discipline?.

One cannot forget the consequence of ergonomics and human factor engineering in the era that can be name as the era of computer and machines. Machines are all around us and usually tribe have to spend most of the time through them, so it is necessary that ergonomics should be applied on it to bring the workers? fatigue. Ergonomics should not sole restrict for the office equipments but it also deals through the household equipments and machineries. The medical professionals are likewise taking keen interest in this tract of land .

Usually when the word ergonomics comes tribe think it is so far-reaching concept or it always necessarily a huge amount of your budget to accomplish it. But originally it is not so much complicated and not necessarily hang on spending money on it every time. This training simply focuses on providing emotional or material relief, and make them comfortable at their act as well as at homes.

It can be achieve by a single hit like switching on or off the extra light what one. may directly or indirectly irritates your eyes. It can be accomplish by reducing height of monitor which was causing penalty in your neck. These can be small discomforts what one. usually faced by people at work.

At times the issue arises that how can people prove to be identical ergonomic problem(s)?

There is a huge row of identifying problem which is started from universal observation to the quantitative risk assessment tools. In that place are many different approaches may be used to examine that from where the problem arises. It can be species out by having a formal or informal meeting through employees so that they can better interpret problems they face. It can also be noticed by oft-repeated accidents which causes people injured. So discover out the causes of these accidents, and mention greater and minor mistakes.

Later on question arise that that which should I do after recognition of ergonomic question (s)?

We cannot suggest any strict formula what one. can bring ergonomics but it depends on the conditions, direct the eye for the causes and find out the possible solution(s) for it. A less alteration provides you relief but sometimes the re-establishment of equipments become necessary. For this intellect a huge variety of ergonomic office and family applications are commonly available all over in markets through a range of prices. Like ergonomic keyboards, catch mice, furniture, mouse, etc.

It is not necessary to call an ergonomic professional all the time. But if you can?t discover problem and its solution by yourself then you can take relieve from them too.

But the main thing what one. should always keep in mind is that the changing or alterations you made be obliged to be beneficial. Make sure the change introduced to bestow the solution of problem should not create any other question for them.

In the last it is concluded that an intellect of ergonomic and human factor engineering in your work or in home can improve your work and bring fatigue. It is really possible to eliminate aches, penalty, stress and can improve your health and gratification. Ergonomic solutions can be simple and small changing can create difference.

America's best beaches: Tops this year is...

San Diego CVB

Coronado Beach in San Diego tops this year's list of best beaches, compiled annually by "Dr. Beach" Stephen Leatherman.

By Rob Lovitt, msnbc.com contributor

According to Stephen Leatherman, aka ?Dr. Beach,? there are approximately 650 major public recreational beaches in the United States. Only one, though, can be No. 1.

What strand of sand earns that designation? This year, the honor goes to Coronado Beach near San Diego, which tops Leatherman?s 2012 annual list of the Top 10 Beaches in the country. Released on Friday, the full list includes:

  1. Coronado Beach, Coronado, Calif.
  2. Kahanamoku Beach, Oahu, Hawaii
  3. Main Beach, East Hampton, N.Y.
  4. St. George Island State Park, St. George Island, Fla.
  5. Hamoa Beach, Maui, Hawaii
  6. Coast Guard Beach, Eastham, Mass.
  7. Waimanolo Bay Beach Park, Oahu, Hawaii
  8. Cape Florida State Park, Key Biscayne, Fla.
  9. Beachwalker Park, Kiawah Island, S.C.
  10. Cape Hatteras, Outer Banks, N.C.

The annual list, which Leatherman has compiled since 1991, is based on 50 criteria, ranging from natural conditions (sand softness, water temperature, wave size) to human-related factors (for example, noise, trash or public safety).

Stretching from the iconic Hotel del Coronado to Silver Strand State Beach, this year?s winner rose from second place in 2011 and third place in 2010.

?It?s flat and hundreds of yards wide so it?s great for walking and playing,? said Leatherman, who has spent much of his career researching and monitoring beaches as director of the Laboratory for Coastal Research at Florida International University in Miami.

?It has a fantastic Mediterranean climate. The water quality is excellent, and there?s a great lifeguarding program so it?s safe for families,? he told msnbc.com.

For Leatherman, the annual list is part of a lifelong passion for coastal environments, an interest that stretches from his childhood in Charlotte, N.C., where his parents built him a backyard sandbox, to the publication of his latest book, ?Field Guide to the Water?s Edge? (National Geographic Books, $21.95), earlier this month.

It?s also an outgrowth of his decades of research on coastal erosion, storm damage and beach safety. On this year?s list, for example, Cape Hatteras dropped from No. 5 last year to No. 10 due to the damage caused by Hurricane Irene last August.

?There?s still an inlet or two that the storm opened up,? said Leatherman. ?They?ve put up some metal bridges but there are going to be delays for people trying to get there.?

On the other hand, Hamoa Beach made the list after falling off it last year due to access restrictions implemented by an adjacent hotel. With those restrictions relaxed, the secluded beach outside Hana made a two-year jump from No. 9 to No. 5.

Meanwhile, if recent history is any guide, beach-bound San Diegans may need to prepare for an influx of visitors as local promoters will no doubt use the designation in their marketing materials for the coming year.

That was certainly the case with last year?s winner, Siesta Beach, in Sarasota, Fla. (To avoid repetition, beaches are ?retired? after their tenure in the top spot.) According to Virginia Haley, president of the Sarasota Convention and Visitors Bureau, the area waged a full-on media blitz, including nabbing the domain name NumberOneBeach.com.

The results, she said, included an 18.2 percent increase in revenue per available hotel room (revPAR, as it?s called, a standard lodging-industry metric), a nine-month increase in visitor spending of 17.5 percent over the same period a year earlier and a 647 percent increase in visits to the CVB?s website.

Some of that increase, said Haley, may also be attributed to the fact that a year had passed since the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, which put a damper on tourism throughout Florida and the entire Gulf region in 2010.

Nevertheless, she offers one more bit of support for the significance of being named the nation?s top beach.

?I?ve had a couple of local little old ladies say, ?Stop promoting Siesta Beach!? ? she told msnbc.com. ?That?s when you know it?s working.?
